My goodness, what a busy couple of terms
it’s been!
Our first job was to help
Mrs Meade at The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in order to raise money for Macmillan
Cancer Support. The children helped to set up, serve (and
eat) lots of delicious cakes, look after the donations, gave out stickers and
even helped to clear up afterwards! Here
are some photos…
Autumn brought Harvest
Festival celebrations with generous
donations of food and toiletries for The Feed Project.
The school councillors helped the charity to carry lots of heavy bags
from the classrooms to their car. It was
exhausting work!
Then on Friday 13th
November it was Children In Need...
...was
this year’s theme, putting the children in charge of their own
fundraising. They decided on a Pjs,
Pudsy and Pal day. Everyone came to school in their pyjamas with
their Pudsey or special cuddly (Pudsy’s pals) for a small £1 donation. During assembly that day Mrs Meade invited
everyone to put their coins on a giant Pudsy (painted by the School Council),
making his pjs even spottier! Great fun
was had painting Pudsy…as you can imagine!
The
following week The Rotary Club came to collect the shoe boxes filled by
our children to be sent to other less fortunate children in other parts of the
world. The School Council were on hand
again to help carry the boxes to the awaiting van.
At
Christmas Year 2 and the School Council walked to Willow
Court Residential Home in order to sing some of our Christmas songs to the elderly residents.
Mrs
Fox came to one of our meetings in January to ask the School Council to carry
out a survey relating to Themed School Dinner Days for the coming year. The following dinners were chosen by everyone
in school:
Chinese Day in February
Easter Day in March
War Time Day in April… and
Picnic Day in June
Later
on in the term we spent an afternoon tidying the shed in the back
playground, throwing away any broken or very old toys. The children took it in turns to sweep the
shed clear of all the SPIDERS!
Finally,
Mrs Pattrick came to one of our meetings and asked for the Council’s input on
changing ‘The Golden Rules’ to The 5 Crabtree Rules. We
spent some time deciding how we might display the new rules in school…hence the
very colourful rainbow display in the school hall with every child’s handprint
representing ‘The 5 Crabtree Rules’.
